Welcome Back to School Aug. 28

Dear Bristol Township School Community,

I wanted to take a moment to welcome back our staff, students and families for the 2023-24 school year.  I hope everyone enjoyed the summer and had the opportunity to relax and spend time with family and friends.

I have to begin by thanking the school community for being so welcoming and supportive when I arrived in Bristol Township and began my duties as superintendent during the last school year.  It is greatly appreciated and it was wonderful to meet so many new people and have the opportunity to learn about the district and community.  During the Board meeting on August 21, I had the chance to present an update on my Entry Plan and talk about all that we accomplished last year, and overview some of our goals for the upcoming school year.

As someone who went right from high school to college, then immediately entered the teaching ranks, I have had over a half-century of consecutive annual “first days of school.”  Interestingly enough, I will still get nervous and have trouble sleeping the evening prior to the opening day of school.  But as I used to tell my athletes when I was a coach, it is perfectly fine and acceptable to be nervous; you’re nervous because you want to do well.  As we open this school year, my most important goal is for each and every student to have a positive and rewarding learning experience in a safe and supportive educational environment.

One of the best things about being in education is the opportunity to see children do great things in the classroom, the arts or the athletic arena.  Our school calendar is filled with events, which showcase our students’ abilities in academics, the arts and athletics.  Please look for an opportunity to come out and support our outstanding students.

It is important to us that we are connected to our school community and there is a bridge between our classrooms and the home.  Please join us for our ‘Back to School Nights’ and get to know our staff and programs.  Also take advantage of many of the technological tools that exist to provide you with valuable information about our schools and your child’s progress.  Check our website frequently, follow us on social media, and share our stories and updates with your family and friends.  As educators, it is our goal to be accessible and available to the community we serve.

In closing, when I talk to our students, I frequently remind them that if they take pride in their school, then their school will be a place of which to be proud.  During these current times, this is certainly something to remember. To our parents, we need your support to be successful; please stay involved and connected to the schools, and support our work and endeavors.  Finally, to our students, work hard, be respectful and approach your studies with enthusiasm.

Have a great year!

Sincerely,

Michael Nitti
Superintendent of Schools
