Weather Emergency Operations Update

January 24th, 2024

I hope today finds you well and that your 2024 is off to a great start.

The following should be considered an update to my 23-24 Weather Emergency Information correspondence that was sent out on December 1st, 2023.  That correspondence is linked below for your review.

Well, after 700+ days without snow in the region, in the course of four days we had to use two snow days, and one delayed opening, as we navigated some challenging winter weather last week.

As you may recall, we built two “snow days” into this year’s school calendar.  Those days have now been used.

That means we now have to move to Remote Learning for any day that we are forced to close school for inclement weather.  If it looks like we are facing that situation, we will most certainly issue a Remote Learning Advisory, so teachers and families can prepare for those responsibilities, but it would be recommended practice to always be aware of, and prepared for, your virtual learning responsibilities.  The BTSD Remote Learning Schedule/Responsibilities are detailed in the aforementioned correspondence linked below.

We were approved for five (5) Remote Learning Days.  If, in the unlikely scenarios that we were to exhaust all those days, we would have no choice but to add days to the end of the school year.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and as always, follow our communication portals for updates and information during inclement weather.
